About the event
Two day workshop. Friday October 3rd, 4hrs 1:30pm to 5:30pm for Demo and working on projects. Then Sunday October 19th Firing day - 9:30am to 3:30 pm.
Note: Each participant is responsible to get their pieces bisqued to a regular bisque before the firing day.
Obvara Firing : is an ancient Middle Eastern process of firing clay. This type of process does not require a glaze on a piece before firing. However, the bisque piece is fired in a raku kiln and the decoration of the surface happens after the pieces have been heated up using fermented flour, water, and yeast which the piece is dipped into while hot and then immediately immersed in cold water to set the desired result.
Texture lends itself well to this technique however smooth surfaces also have very attractive results.
