Having a Gas with Glazing!

This 5 day intensive workshop offers a focused introduction to glaze making and ceramic raw materials for cone 10 gas firing. Participants will move through the complete testing cycle - learning to mix glazes, create and apply to test pots. Students will learn clear documentation of test recipes and recording in journals and actual pots. Demonstration of both, off the hump throwing and designing functional work with future glazing and decorating in mind.

Emphasis placed on understanding how materials interact and how to achieve consistent, repeatable results. The workshop culminates in loading and firing selected test pieces and pottery into new gas kiln. Hands on kiln operation around safety and kiln log documentation will be demonstrated. Final session dedicated to unloading, evaluating outcomes, and discussing next steps.
