About The Class
Sunday, June 25th. One-day workshop from 10 am to 4 pm.
Info: An intro to slip as a surface decoration. We will cover traditional techniques (feathering, dotting, slip-trailing, marbling, mishima, sgraffito), and more contemporary techniques (stencils, monoprints, layering multiple techniques). We will talk about different kinds of slip applications, and use hump molds to work with patterned slabs. We will work on fresh to leather hard clay. Some prepared tiles will be supplied for experimenting.
To Bring: There will be time for students to try techniques out so they are encouraged to bring some leather hard pieces to experiment with and some fresh clay for making patterned slabs and trying out molds. If they have bisque or plaster hump molds, that would be welcome too!
