This is a class for potters with some experience who want to take the next steps on the wheel. Students should be able to center the clay, and pull a basic cylinder.

Discover how to get the most out of each lump of clay, and make taller, wider, lighter pots. Topics will include:

Looking at what makes a good pot good – design, balance, finishing, decoration

Making a well-fitting lid that looks like it belongs on the pot

Making a handle that feels right and invites the hand to hold it

Making a bowl that makes you think of food

Paying attention to rims and feet

Making spouts that pour properly

Applying glazes to make your pots beautiful

In addition to making lots of pots, we’ll talk a lot about pots, we’ll tell jokes, we’ll laugh and we’ll have fun!
