CLAY HUB GAS KILN REGISTRATION AND REQUIREMTNTS 

                                             Welcome to the Clay Hub Gas Kiln registration page

Firing Date:
Currently a gas kiln firing date will be set once we have enough space booked to fill the 40cu. Foot Gas kiln. Once booked space is full we will be in touch via your e-mail 2 weeks prior to the firing. 

Booking space and Paying:

Pay now to book your space. Pricing is by cubic foot of space ( 12x12c12x12inches plus kiln shel(f)ves you require. 
Minimum is 1 cu. ft. and maximum space 2 cu. ft. 

No large sculpture space is available at this time.

GLAZE COLOURS AVAILABLE FOR CONE 10 MORE TO COME :) 

Requirements: 
Clay used in this kiln must be 'high-fire' cone 10 clay. we recommend Plainsman H550, H555, H440 (needs cookies or wadding), P700, cone 10 B-Mix, Rod's Bod. 
WSO and Plainsman 440, 440 G will not be vitrified' watertight' even when fired to cone 10 so not recommended for functional wares. 
High fire red clays and high fire clays with speckle are welcome but require cookies or wadding underneath to prevent speckling on the kiln shelves. 


Bisque ware only:
All high fired clay pots must be bisqued prior to arrival. No greenware accepted. 
Bring your bisqued posts to the site on glazing / loading day starting at 10 am. 


Glazing
Glazes are provided on site and included in the price you already paid. There is a variety of great glazes to chose from: Tom Coleman no craze white,
Sam Kwan Tenmoku,
Peter Flanagan's shino,
Heinz Laffin light blue chun ( best on a red clay body)
Amber celadon,
Judi Dyelle pale green celadon. 

If you are wanting to use your 
own glazes and glaze your pieces prior to arriving they MUST BE APPROVED BEFORE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO USE THEM 
You must send the glaze recipe to the Clay Hub at : theclayhubcollective@gmail.com.
Your glaze will be reviewed and you will be sent an e-mail reply to let you know you are able to use your glaze. 
This glaze recipe will then go into the Glaze Manual and be available to all potters. 
You will need to have cookies under each piece initially to make sure they will not run and damage the kiln shelves. 

Each potter is ecpected to clean up after themselves and assist with general clean up as well.


Unloading Date: 
Date will be confirmed on glazing / loading day...usually 1 week following the firing.
