About the event
Wednesday Afternoons: January 13th to February 17th 3:30 pm to 6:00pm
"Top up" your clay practice in this 6-week intermediate wheel throwing course dedicated entirely to the art of the lid. Designed for potters who can already comfortably throw a basic cylinder, this class will push your technical boundaries and help you master the precise engineering required to create the functional, beautiful, and perfectly fitted lidded vessels.
Class Schedule:
Week 1: Foundations of the Fit. Master the anatomy of a lidded form. Learn to use calipers with precision and throw your first basic flanged lids for small jars or bottles.
Week 2: Dive into galleries. Throw vessels with built-in internal galleries and matching inset hand-built or thrown lids.
Week 3: The Art of the Ginger jar. Explore thrown lids to fit cylinders with a simple rim.
